Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business
One of our greatest pleasures in doing business with the Federal Government is the ability to give back to our fellow Americans who give so much. Veteran Owned Small Businesses (VOSB) and Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) can enjoy lucrative contracting opportunities with the Federal Government.
Every agency that offers contract opportunities must award a certain number of projects to VOSB's and SDVOSB's.
Establishing your status as a VOSB or SDVOSB can be done through the SBA and through different state programs. Some of the paperwork required to determine your status is an Award of Entitlement Letter from - U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (800-827-1000) or Department of Defense (800-321-1080). The letter must be issued within the last six months and verify a service-connected disability rating of at least 10 percent.
Once established your status can entitle your business to preference on certain government projects available. The preference could mean that only offers from businesses with VOSB or SDVOSB statues would be considered or that a price allowance would be offered that could mean higher profit margins.
The Government encourages our returning veteran to enter the business world and feels that expanding business opportunities is one important way to honor the men and women who, throughout history, have served proudly and courageously in our Armed Forces, placing their personal safety and ambitions second to protecting our country, preserving American ideals, and fighting the enemies of freedom.
